When we created arachnerd.com and arachnerd.org in 1996, our focus was using the Internet to bring together people and ideas. Time have changed, but the idea stands:
Kids today need to be more than computer nerds they need to be Arachnerds capable of maneuvering the vast web of the information super highway. An arachnerd knows how to gather information on the World Wide Web to find answers to questions sparked by curiosity or need.
An arachnerd is also a content provider using the Web as a medium to present ideas, areas of research and sometimes personal viewpoints. Not just kids but parents, educators, communities and cultural institutions need to join in, put on their spidey hats and become Arachnerds--mini-experts in Internet technologies and Web development.
Being an arachnerd is about bringing together people and ideas.
